Dear Dr. Uma,

I hope this email finds you well. My name is Ivan and I am looking forward to working with you over the next few months in exploring effective communication skills within the hospitality business workplace. But before that, I would like to take this opportunity to formally introduce myself so that you can get to know me better.

I am a hospitality business undergraduate in Singapore Institute of Technology. As for my prior education, I graduated with a Hospitality and Tourism Management Diploma from Nanyang Polytechnic. With this, it is pretty clear that my passion and interest lies in the hospitality industry where I am planning to pursue a career in. 

Back in Nanyang Polytechnic, I specialised in the MICE industry after discovering that I have a passion for events. I was interested in planning events like exhibitions and conferences and eventually bringing them to life. It was only through my internship at Cityneon Holdings Ltd where I managed to fulfill my dream of partaking in the planning and set-up of large commercial events. It was a truly fruitful experience where I learned a lot. However, upon entering university, I decided to venture into the hotel industry. Thus, I am currently in the hotel specialization rather than the MICE specialization for my degree. 

I believe that one of my greatest weakness when it comes to communication would be public speaking. I tend to get nervous when I am presenting or speaking in front of a crowd which I have been working on improving through countless practices. However, my strength lies in my conversational skills where I am able to display high levels of interpersonal communication skills.

Once again, I am looking forward to embarking on this journey of improving my communication skills.
